I have a 1993 f150 supercab and need 2 new 12"subs for it my old PG Qx series 12s have lived a hard life and its time to put them to sleep!
I would like to hear from anyone who wants to put in there 2cents worth and tell me what speakers work for them and why I might like them? The box that I am useing is 3.62cu ft and is ported with 3 inch ports 10.5 inches long, with the Qx 12s it was tuned to 34hz
I am powering the speakers with a Kicker zx460 amp (1 channel at 2 ohms)and am unsure of the exact power that is applyed.
The rest of my system is a Pioneer DEH-900R cd player,AVI 5 1/4 mid bass in the doors, 1"AVI tweeters with AVI XN-24Gpassive X-overs,
RockFORD Fosgate PA2 electronic x-over, pioneer 3 way 5x7 in the rear and AVI 6" mids and 1" tweets in the kickpanels the kickpanel speakers are powered by the 2nd channel of the Kicker amp, The door mids and dash tweeters are powered by 2 mtx 2100 amps Bridged one to each side and the 5x7s are powered by the deck.
Anyway tell me what you recomend and let me Know what your running for a stereo?? thanks
I suggest that you look into buyin a set of Image Dynamics idq v2 12" subs. With that ported box and power, they would be perfect. They are very musical and get loud in.
Here's an idea. First it just depends on if you want really expensive speakers or good sound quality and bass. If you want expensive speakers rockfer fosgates sound great, or you could be like me I only have tens because of space ,but i have 10" jensen xs series 475 watt sub. You could get 12" jensen xs series 525 watt subs for about $50-$60 a peice which is cheap, but they do sound really good. Just remember to use crossovers they are not dual voice coil.

Sony cd player, 600 watt jensen mosfet power amp, 2 5 1/4 sony xploids, 10" jensen 475 watt sub
I've got a 10" boston acoustics sub that has a rating of 850 watts...rms not max either. It's their competitor series and really hits well for a 10" sub. I designed and built my own box to go between the console and the rear seat at about .7 cubes, it only needs .5 cubes but i made it .7. See if you can get one, they are awesome.
hey man,
i have two jl audio 10's in my truck and they hit really hard. they arent too expensive, and the great thing about jl is that they can take a good amount of power, but they dont need much to really start crankin. ive only got 85 watts goin to each one and lots of my friends still are tryin to figure out how they are so loud(of course i did get on jl's site and get the box to exactly in the middle of the range that jl said the box should be. just throw that out for ya good luck
