o2 sensor and long tubes

my understanding was the o2 sensor went into the reducer off the headers? but my wires are not long enough to reach that location! what doI need to do? This is the stock O2.

extending things...

BBK, among others, make extension cables complete with male & female plugs that will allow for the relocation of your O2 sensors in the collectors of your headers. Check with some of the advertisers here on FTE & you should be able to find what you need.

Bosch may make a factory replacement with a longer pigtail. How much longer do you need?

If you remove the tape from the sensor wiring harness down near the sensor and up near the battery where it attaches to the main harness you'll be able to pull out enough wire to reach the header collector.

I'm having a similar problem. My truck is an 85 F150 however. I also need to put my sensor in the collector of my long tube headers but like JRCF, I haven't enough length for it to reach. BBK i found makes a kit with two O2 sensor extensions but these are for 86-93 Mustangs. Can anybody tell me if these will work on mine if I buy the kit and use one? or will i have to somehow lengthen the wire by splicing or something? I know people have put long tube headers on these trucks before so they must have somehow been able to utilize the O2 sensor with the headers bu making them longer? Any help at all will eb greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
