I just won some NEW 6.5" Cadence Components off of UBID. I'm not sure what model they are, but there are a few more sets left. I got them for $36 plus shipping. They are aluminum cone mids, seperate silk tweets, and tinted acrylic crossover. Has anybody here had experience with Cadence? I figured at that price they were worth trying out.
Wooohooo! They arrived yesterday. Very goood quality construction! The magnets on the 6.5" mids are HUGE and very heavy. The Crossover is sleek and compact and the tweets are heavy and well constructed. This set is better than any Pioneer speakers I've owned. Now I can't wait to hook them up and break them in.
Blast from the past. Update--these components have been in my 78 f150 since my last post and are still going strong. I'm only pumping 75w rms to each channel. They are rated at 100w rms. And out goes my worn Jensen cassette player and in comes my Pioneer DEH-P3700MP CD/MP3 receiver this week. Can't wait to see how crisp and clear everything gets with the new head unit. I'll post again after I get it all installed.
FYI, they still sell those speakers on the Cadence website and at ubid, but now they are $79 plus shipping. I made out like a bandit!!!!
I am a dealer for Cadence , and they are one of the best brand out there. Its all I use. The best thing about them is not every Tom ,Dick , and Harry have them. They don't flood the market like most brands of today. For the price you can't beat Cadence. What kind of amp do you have on them? And what model # components are they?
You will like those speakers. They will be sharp & clear. The silk dome tweeters should have warm vocals & crisp highs. Good buy!
He's had them for over 3 years.
Cigar - You were still using a Jensen cassette player? Wow.. whenever you get in your new HU, a big smile will be slapped across your face. Do you have any pics of these installed?
I'm so close, I can taste it.....errr .....hear it. Well, almost. I've got the head unit in and the amp and such rewired. But I can not for the life of me get rid of the annoying alternator whine/click. Aarrgghhh. I shortened the ground cable to about 10 inches and it goes directly from the amp to the cab floor sheet metal. (Thick 8 gauge wire and terminal lug bolted to a paint free spot.) I seperated the amp from the metal body to prevent a ground loop. The cd player ground goes right to the dash. Man it's frustrating. There are only four things I can think of that I might need to check now.
.
1)I'm not using quality 6 foot RCA cables(two of them.)
.
2)The cd player body is grounded to the dash. I wonder if that would make a ground loop.
.
3)I'm using some Taylor 9mm high performance plug wires. So I know that aftermarket plug wires will have less resistance and allow more electrical noise to bleed into the truck electronics. But I would hate to have to give up the spark and fuel performance of those plugs.
.
4)I'm tempted to try some sort of Noise Killer device on the power or RCA cables to see if that helps?
Check for any electrical devices near the RCA cables, if there are try to move them around. I don't think the cd player body grounded by the dash would be a problem, but I'm not sure about that. You also might want to think about new RCA's, they're not really expensive. I've heard mixed reviews on the noise killer for the RCA's.. but you might try one on the radio.
Actually I think I have one around here somewhere if you want it, to give it a try. I bought it when I was hearing alternator whine and tried getting it to work, and never could. Bought it at Radio Shack for $30 or something like that, if you want it, drop me a PM. I think the Taylor wires might be your problem.. but I'm sure that could be resolved.
One thing many people forget is to update/add a body to battery ground strap. Clean some paint from the inner fender and run a ground wire same or preferably heavier than your power wire.
Yea, it's my '78. It's all stock, so I would guess that the cab is already grounded to the frame/ground. I will double check. Heya, RomerB2, is your noise killer supposed to plug into the input rca's of the amp or does it have to plug into the back of the receiver in the dash?
This one's the kind that take out loops. Not from the RCA's but from the actual power to your HU. It has (+ in), (- in), and (+ out). I'll pull it out and take a pic of it and PM it to you, so you can kinda get an idea.
