Exhaust upgrade
Hi guys need some help in choosing a good exhaust system for my truck. I have a 02 F-450 cab chasis. I don't think there is a lot of choices for cab chasis. What would be a good brand? Looking for quality and good fit. Iam thinking of straight pipe or may be stacks . Thanks for any info.

There is no difference in performance. I have MBRP but MKO is also good and would have given them a real serious look if I knew of them at the time. In MBRP, I could have gotten aluminized, 409 or 304 Stainless but I chose 409 because I didn't care how shiny it looks. YMMV.

My only suggestion- stay away from Diamond Eye. I bought a Diamond Eye 4" dual setup for my truck and the fit and finish was poor... I ended up taking it to an exhaust shop and we had to tweak it some to get it to fit AND clear the spare like it was supposed to, as well as weld in a few hangers to get it to fit right.

I just purchased a MotoBlue 4" exhaust from RPMOutlet.com along with 3 Autometer guages and A pillar for $586 delivered. Exhaust (high flow muffler incl) would have been $301 to my door. Great price (of course someone will post, "Motoblue, oh no!). I was looking for ecomony and functionality.

As an edit to my first post here- the tech guy at Diamond Eye did his best to help me out- we exchanged several phone calls and emails over about a month's time trying to get things figured out. They even sent me a new piece of pipe because I felt one of the pieces I had received was the wrong one (turns out I was right). I can't knock them for their service, but if I could do it all over again I would buy a different system from one of the more reputable manufacturers.
Also forgot to say that for your cab/chassis you will probably have to do some tweaking and modifying to get an exhaust to fit right, none of the kit systems will bolt right in I'm suspecting.

If you look at the description of the exhaust systems, when I was shopping for one, they all stopped at F350 and stated pickup trucks only.
I bought one anyway knowing that fact.
And the reason is that there is not enough room between the axle and the fuel tank for a fat pipe to fit through.
I ended up with the tailpipe coming out in front of the RR tire.
I'm not complaining at all, but simply stating how it worked out for me.
I have a 1999 F-550 with a Truckstell RV hauler box.

Thanks for the reply Dan. How about your wheels do they get black? I was looking at that space between the axle and the fuel tank there is not alot of room. My truck is really heavy it sits down about 2 inches lower so that makes it even tighter. I just might go with stacks if I can make it work.
Thanks again, Roger

I get more of a stain on the corner of the box right in front of the rear wheel than on the wheel itself.
I would have stacked it but I pull a tall fifth wheel RV and I didn't want it to turn black.
The wheel doesn't hardly turn black at all, but I also tow in stock tune only because the 4.88 gears cause the engine to run at 2500 rpm at 70 mph. Bean at Beans diesel wrote me here in the forum that the only way to lower the EGTs is to regear to a lower numerical geared axle to slow the engine down. Even a mild tow/haul tune, the EGTs would shoot up to 1400 degrees on a hill and I have a 5" exhaust, bellowed up pipes, zero boost leak, etc. Everything to help the engine breath. Two different air intake setups, one was the 6637 and the current one is the Ford AIS HD air intake. No difference on EGTs either way, just the AIS is much quieter in the cab.
Stock tuning, pulling a hill the EGT settles in at around 1100-1150 midway through the pull.
That Cannon Exhaust sure let's people know what I have as I go by that Dodge Hemi trying to pull a trailer half my size up a hill as I pass them by.
All the exhaust flutter is gone and it is bellowing out a whistling, turbo screaming roaring exhaust.
