I thought I'd never have a reason to post here again, but my PC forum isn't too good with car radios.
Anyways, on to my point. I have my old CD-player out of my old '94 F-350, crutchfield doens't list a fit for the pick-up(As far as I can see). My new car('95 Pontiac Firebird) is listed an as E fit, and my Friends '88 Ford Bronco is listed as an I fit. The CD-player is listed as an I,J, E fit. However, on the web-site when I look up both vehicles they both had an M fit, modification required.
How can I find out if this will fit in my car or my freinds bronco? I don't think it will fit in my car, but according to the fit guide it should fit. Accoridng to the magazine, there are speakers for both, and the CD-player will fit both, but the web-site shows that an adapter is needed for just about everything.
While, if no one knows if this will fit, that is fine. I think I found out today that if I put an eq below it, then there would just be some space on the sides. I think I might just sale it.
It is a Sony XPlod CDX-CA650X with no manual or remote, I bought it for $240 from Crutchfield a few years ago, what should I ask for it now?
The radio will fit in both the Firebird and the Bronco. I was looking on the Crutchfield site to see what the modifications are, but they are not specific enough. I don't know how comfortable you are about taking it apart and installing it, but if you are not, I would just take the radio to a local stereo shop, Best Buy, or HiFiBuys, and have them install it. I think they charge anywhere from $25 to $50. That usually includes all the install kit, and wiring harness. Then you would have a warranty on the install job.
I can do some research on the cars and help you through the install if you choose to do it yourself, just let me know... A good friend of mine started a stereo shop a couple of years ago, so I have a place to get the info...
I looked at it today(I shouldn't be so lazy) and noticed that it will need a filler to go in my car. The Bronco on the other hand, I think he was offering too little. Does Sony make an EQ that could fill up some of the extra space?
I don't know how much space you are talking about, but Sony does make the XE-90 MkII. It is 7" wide, 1" tall, and 6 3/8" deep. Usually runs around $175 - $200. It is a 9 band with separate sub controls and a 2 way low pass switch for the subs. You may want to check it out...
