Engine swap in a '66
Engine swap in a '66
Hey guys,
I was wondering is there any type of motor mount i can put in to fit a 390 with a c4 trans into a 1966 F-100 Custom Cab longbox 2wd?? Was that an option back in '66 to put in a 390??? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If your truck originally came with a 352, then its pretty straight forward, like pull the 352 and bolt in the 390 since its basically the same thing. I question a C4 on a 390, not even sure that a C4 was made for an FE...I'd guess its a C6 depending on the year of the engine / tranny. Worst case is the you have to scrounge up some FE engine perches and mounts, then, depending on the tranny, you may have to shorten the intermediate drive shaft.
No 390 engines were factory installed in F100/350's till the 1968 model year.
No C4's were factory installed behind an FE engine of any size.
C4's were introduced in 1964, and used primarily behind 200, 240 & 250 I-6's, 260/289/302 and 351W's.
1964/72 F100/250's used C4's, 1964/67 F350's used MX Cruise-O's.
First 300 with a C6 = 1978. 1973/77 F350's with 240/300's used FMX's.
