is there any reason why every single electrical component in my truck that emits light flashes? and with more rpm the frequency of the flashiness increases?
i dont not fully understand what you mean. lol.
i was leaning more towards alternator or voltage regulator. she really is a great truck, its just these little mundane things are getting me worried since i'm making a 3000 mile trip soon and i dont want them to turn into big things along the way. the headlights, brakelights, dash, instrument cluster, reading lamp....everything pulsates!
ouput on alternators in these trucks is lousy to say the least. If your not into keeping it 100% original, then do a 3G conversion. While youre at it do a headlight relay conversion. You will get a full 12 volts to the headlights. And with the 3G you wont have the flickering of the lights, and have 95-140 amps on tap.

My 81 does the same thing, if the battery is fully charged, and very little load is on the charging system.
It goes away when you turn the heater on, or put a drain on the battery.
It can be a sign of a weakening voltage regulator, (you can have them tested) or a worn altenator (you can also have them tested). Check the altenator pully and bearings for side to side movement etc...
Also, check all of your grounds really well, an intermittent ground can cause simular results.
