Possible engine swap?
Hi,
I currently have a 99 Ranger with a 3.0 Flex Fuel engine, 5 speed, that is locked up, metal shavings in oil pan, anyway, I was offered a 3.0 engine out of a 97 Ranger last night. I am wondering if this would be a possible straight swap? Let me know if I need to provide anymore info. Thanks!!!

It is possible, but you have flex fuel... so there are 2 ways. 1st- swap all the sensors and actuators to you new engine... ore swap PCM and wiring. Both the ways are not too difficult to do... but there is no hole for nock sensor in some blocks, I had to drill and thread.
I've heard that emmision lows do not allow to swap engine controll system from '97 to '99. Not sure about your state.
