Amplifier Wiring Help

I recently aquired a free amp from a friend who was junking a car. I had little time to delicately remove the wiring to ease re-installation so I just cut all wires. My friend has no wiring diagram for the amp but said it worked fine. I know some of you can install this with your eyes closed so I hope you can help me out. I have never installed an Amp before. Just basic in-dash and speaker installs. Pictured below is the connections from each side. I think the audio plug-in is what connects from the stereo, right? And I'm guessing the terminals are the output to my speakers maybe? I understand the power, remote and ground. I just don't know how to connect it to my 4 speaker system. I don't understand why there are 2 sets of MONOs. I just want the amp to enhance my current 4 speakers. I'm not planning on subs, EQs or tweeter. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

It is a four channel amp, the reason for the two monos is if you bridge those two channel together to one. Mainly used for driving a single sub. Just ignore the mono and connect your four speakers accordingly to the lines above them.

so connect both my left forward and rear speakers onto the L- and L+? How will I have fader control? What do you mean by the term "bridge"? Sorry but I don't know s**t about amps.

"bridge" means you combine 2 channels into 1 (in this case 4 channels into 2) as stated above, used for sub applications, which you don't want to use, so ignore it. So just follow the speaker hookups labels on the top row (ignore the MONO labels). You can still have fader and balance control with your radio if it has two RCA out puts (front and rear). You'll also want to set the crossover (x-over) to FULL so you can hear the full range to music, not just bass or treble. Set the LEVEL ***** about 1/2 way and turn the radio volume to about the max level that you would listen to it (and with the type of music you listen to mostly), if it sounds distorted turn the LEVEL **** down, if it's not loud enough, continue to turn it up just below the distortion.

Yes run both front and rear speakers of the amp. The fade control will come off the deck if it has 2 sets of RCA pre-outs front and rear.

If you were to follow the (mono) wiring, then you would have a 2 channel amp. Thats the term bridging an amp.

If you look where it's in the ( ) you will see it is using the - of the right side and the + of the left side and you wouldn't use the 2 in the middle.

What kind of deck are you planning on using with this amp.

thank you guys. I've actually tinkered with this with an old in-dash, two speakers and a 12v battery. My deck had only 2 RCA plugs on the back which I connected to the amp. I then connected the speakers as you suggested and..... it works, yeepee! So I'll duplicate my wiring upon final install using proper size wiring.

If I decide to add a sub-woofer in the future, can I add that in? Do I just connect to the other mono side?

thanks again,
Mike

No, you can either do the mono bridge or run speakers like you've done but you can't do both. You'd need to get a separate amp for the sub.

Actually, you can bridge one side of the amp for the sub and use the other two for the full range speakers. This would not be the ideal way to do it, but it can be done. Not saying you won't blow something, depending on the ohm load, ect. But you would need a deck with two outputs (which he said it doesn't have) or splice the output.

True, but like you mentioned it's not a good idea to put an unequal load across an amp like that.
