rust... anyone else?

i started washing my truck last nite finished that... used my liquid clay bar then left it for the nite... went out this morning to start waxing and started to see all the lovel paint chips i have (im pissed) i started waxing and when i got the the roof i freaked... although small i have rust bubbles already... i have a small spot of rust.. about 1/8" diameter followed by a dime sized cluster or bubles under the paint surrounding it....

wondering if anyone else is having this problem as well?

also wondering if anyone knows how much clearcoat is on these trucks... i was planning on painting just the box of my truck next spring after i got all the dents and big scratches out (hey... its a truck so i use it that way!!!) but now i may have to do the whole effing thing.. which really pisses me off... and im planning on doing 2-3 times more clearcoats that the factory did (depending on how many they do?)

I feel your pain about the paint. Got 1 small pen tip of rust on the top of my cab also (from rock chip). I don't even want to talk about my PTM front bumper

I've had 3 doors and 2 pillars resprayed already to fix some crappy paint areas. There are more spots, but I didn't notice them until I was out of the 1yr/12k mile paint defect warranty

oh well, I just got them cleaned and the rust stopped, then waxed the crap out of those areas...maybe sometimes down the road I'll get her resprayed.

No rust yet but my painted front bumper is chipped all to hell so I'm sure the rust will start soon. Some one mentioned in another thread to use touch up paint but I have so many chips I would have to use about 15 bottles of that touch up paint.

Rocks

My painted front bumper looks like I followed a gravel truck for 500 miles. I suppose I could remove, sand and re-paint it it. The body shop wants $350 to do it. I can buy a chrome bumper for that amount. Where do all the rocks come from? You'd think after awhile they'd all get blown off the road. Wish I owned a windshield shop here, they are making a killing!

I found a small rust spot on my '04 around the seam of the cab close to the window in between the bed and cab. I took it in to the dealer and they sanded it down and fixed it free of charge, even though if you read the corrosion coverage, it technically should not have been covered. Of course, I know the dealership very well and my entire family has bought many Ford vehicles from them over the years.

Rock chips come from tailgating or following too closely on the highway.

Rock Chips

Most here are caused by 18 wheelers - passing you in droves.

hardly...mine come from 2 trips to Texas from Seattle and back in the winter. 2500 mile trip 1 way

try driving along I-84, I-70, I-35 with gratuitous amounts of sand/gravel/snow/ice mixture on the highway and 18-Wheelers flying by you at 70+ mph
