Time for breaks..
To sum it up, I need new front rotors.
I've already got EBC "Green Stuff" break pads that I bought new a year ago at a clearance sale for under $10.
I'm hoping to get it all done tomorrow, and I'm not sure if the rotors can be turned or not. If they can, great. I'll have them turned and save me some money. But after previewing the rotors that the local auto parts stores have, I don't think I want to go with them. So, if they can't be turned, I'll just wait and order them and do the break job next week. I'd just hate to have to go through the hassle of taking the existing rotors off, hauling them in, have the machine shop see if they can turn them, find out they can, and then have to put them on again so I can get to work only to take them off a week later... you know? Anyone know of a way I can measure the rotors before I take them in to see if they can be turned or not? What are the specs??

also, I have a 2wd model. I've read that theres a special socket needed to take off the spindle nut to remove the rotor.. can anyone tell me what the size of the socket that I need is?
And, what does it have to be torqued to?

if i were you i wouldn't bother turning the rotors they always warp again within couple few months, spend the extra to get new ones, thats about all i can say never done brakes on a newer ford yet....

I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't want to risk the bearings in the rotors going bad and have to take them all apart again.
Any places / brands that you have bought that seem to be pretty good?

For virtually no "brake" dust I suggest Wagner Thermo-Quiets! Alot of people out there like these "brake" pads.Ide also get new "brake" rotors too!

x2 on the Thermo-quiets. Put them on my stock rotors about 200 miles ago. Not a sqeek, pull, vibration, nothing. Quiet and better stopping than the OEM pads. Also, no dust like the OEM. Did I mention Lifetime Warranty as well?

I had the rear brakes replaced on my '04 at 55,000 miles back in January and the rotors could not be turned. I have to say the rotors for this truck are kind of pricey. I am going to have to replace the front brakes in the next 3,000 miles and I am hoping I don't have to replace the rotors also.

Took my truck to a shop I know and trust today.
He measured both rotors, the driver's side read".1125, and pass. side .1119. To be in spec and turn, they have to be .1122. So in other words, I need new rotors.
Anyone have any places that aren't too bad on prices for the rotors that are a good quality??

Brought my truck in to have the front brakes replaced yesterday. It turns out I had to replace the rotors also. Total cost for the rotors were 479.00. To say the least, I am not very happy about this. In 5 months I have had to replace the rear rotors at a cost of 350.00 and then this. I had the brake pads replaced during yesterday on the front and the rear back in January. My truck has 63,000 miles on it now. In both instances, the brakes still had pads left, so I can't understand why they couldn't turn the rotors atleast once. The work was done at two different shops, so I don't feel as though they were trying to pull one over on me. I just think that it is unaccepable to have to replace all 4 rotors like this and not be able to turn them one time. The rotors on these trucks are too expensive to be replacing like this. From what I am reading on here, I am not the only one with this problem. I am hoping Ford will do a better job with the rotors on the '09 model.

I just had my truck's first brake job done at 36k miles.
I had all four rotors machined, brakes all around. I also had the 30k (a little late) maintenance done, so it's hard to separate the cost, but the brakes were about $400.
Does that sound right? I didn't think brake jobs cost so much...
