Parts Wanted

I am in need of a camshaft for a 1950 ford 6 cly. 226 engine. A new one would be nice. However, a good used one will work. Also, I need the oil pump pick up for the same engine. Hope someone out there can help me. Thanks in advance Bill

About a week ago there was a post by someone who just bought a brand new one; look back for a thread on "timing gear help". I think he said where he bought it. There was some other valuable info there too.

Welcome to the Forum Bill, I just sent you an e-mail message I hope you get it. New users have to post so many posts (15 I believe) before they can send the PM or e-mail out. I think I still have a couple 226 Canshafts lying around here. I need to know if you want the 7HA 0r the OHA model though. 50 was a transition year to the OHA model as I recall. Each have different oil pump drive gear teeth on them. If you mate the wrong gears and tear up the pump drive gear it's a big problem as they are no longer available for that engine to my knowledge. There was a guy in Europe last year that needed one and he finall did find one. My suggestion to anyone running the 226/254 Flathead 6 is to get a couple spare engines for parts. They are a great engine just not popular and getting harder, and harder, to find these days. Most people that have them now are wanting the big bucks for them from what I see on Ebay and Craigslist.
