i was wondering how to identify which cylinder heads i have on my motors?
and what the difference between the heads and which ones are better than the other?
To identify cylinder heads look for the casting numbers. All heads other than early sixties have the casting numbers on the underside, making it difficult to read them when installed. If the intake manifold is removed a mirror can be used to view the numbers.
Some later heads have a code letter on the top end of the head, such as a T for the E7TE casting. There are also R and S letters, and perhaps more. I don't know what castings the R and S correspond to.
NB: Casting numbers aren't the same as part numbers, but often are close.
