I have read on here of all the people having problems with their CD4E trans in their escapes however not many people seem to have found out the culprit of immobility. I have an 02 with about 117,000 on it. It has never shown any signs of trans trouble until one day it started acting like it didnt want to to shift. Upon driving further the OD light started flashing and it eventually stopped moving all together. I have a genesis scan tool and hooked it up to find code p1744 that is a torque control solenoid. I have also read that the range selector switch is a common problem. I have replaced that with one from ford and it did nothing. I do know that if you disconnect the battery negative terminal the truck will move for about 10 seconds. All this taken into account I believe that it is something electronic and not mechanical. I hate to have it replaced when I believe it is probably a solenoid or a sensor but Im not sure where to turn now. Has anyone had any success fixing this problem with their escape without a rebuild or a new trans? Any suggestions would help.
No, my wife bought the car with about 65000 on it and she never had the fluid changed and by the time I told her to have it changed the car about 95000 on it and three different transmissions shops said not to if it was so high mileage.
i have an 02 and it did the same thing. od light flash and about 3 miles later no tranny. the crazy thing is, i had the fluid changed regularly. i just think this transmission is a pos. transmission shop said that it couldnt be rebuilt so i bought a used one from a jy. works fine for now
i had a problem with my wifes 02 sticking in gear and seemed to hold the shifts for a long time, and i took it to ford far a trany flush as i was told on the site that there is a programing problem and they will reflash he computer when they flush it. it fixed her problem. just my 2 cents worth
