Alright truck is now back with more problems. (I hate 6.0) The dealership replaced the EGR valve and something to due with the turbo. White smoke issues. They called and started off with "How long have you had the K&N Air Filter?" Well I don't have a K&N but I do have the AFE that was on it when I purchased the truck from a dealership. Well they kinda laughed and stated that the cylinder might be dusted. I told them to stop working on it since I didn't buy the truck there and it's only been 39 days since I bought it. I have looked online and found several issues with K&N but dusting has not been refered to. I am at Wits End and like always that S.O.B. is out fishing.
I'm not a diesel mechanic but I do understand the dust in the air concept but can seem to grasp why a dealership would sell a truck with an aftermarket intake?
Do you know what they did to the turbo. Most of the time dusting will destroy a turbo long before damaging an engine. I've actually seen many dusted turbos but haven't seen a dusted cylinder with my own eyes yet. Is it the original turbo. Get the dealer to give you an Oasis on the truck.
Since it's an '06 it's probably still covered under the full coverage 3/36 vehicle warranty. Take it back to the dealer where you purchased it and have them fix the trailer wiring issue, replace the A/M intake with the factory intake, etc.
Going to a different dealer just gets the blame game started.
Have you run an OASIS report? Check out the 6.0 forum for more assistance.
Ok they put it back together and contacted the original dealer. Have to take it to them for the warranty work. #5 AND 6 cylinders are showing low compression. Now the original dealer is stating that they will cover it because of the time frame and the fact that the paperwork shows a/m intake. Thanks for the help.
Now I am not the brightest with diesel, but oil blows blue, diesel blows black and coolant blows white.
White smoke makes me think heads or head gasket have failed and are allowing coolant in. I think the 6.0 is pretty common for head bolt stretching with a performance tune. You may want to bring this up when you get it to the other dealer.
Alright I went and picked up the truck from the dealer after the service dept closed so no talking to them. They said that now it only blows smoke when cold start. HA HA HA Joke was on me. I looked like an old steam engine gettin up to speed. I wasted almost a quarter of tank of diesel going 32 miles. I still showed around 15-20psi getting up to speed and no lack of power. The exhaust now smells like diesel and its kinda blue but mainly white and the truck isn't shifting like it was before. Now it seems to be running a lot higher RPM. I AM SO TIRED OF 6.0 I can't Ford cuz I own an 07 Stang.

White smoke from a diesel can mean a lean condition - I think.
Black is normal (without emissions equipment) for a rich condition.
Blue is, of course, oil, but ... guess what? An oil burner will just burn the oil And it'll be black from a "rich" condition.
My brother-in-law had some diesel trucks - a turbo blew a seal, pushed oil into the intake, and ran on forever until you stalled it by popping the clutch. Black smoke out the tailpipe.

Black is normal with or without emissions equipment. Pop a tune in there with everything else stock and you will get smoke, how much depends on the tune.

And a "tune" runs rich on purpose And advanced, but anyway.
Most later model diesels do their best to NOT produce black smoke.
Even circa 1987, diesels didn't make much smoke unless they were cold (which is a time when a diesel can emit blue smoke, on cold startup when oil usage is high).
