Question Tune Up Time!!!

My truck is slowly reaching 100,000 miles and I am trying to figure out what I need to do for that maintenance milestone. I changed all of the coils and all of the plugs about three years ago at around 70k miles. I Have had the truck since 48k miles and I have never changed the coolant or the belt so I was thinking of that. I have heard mixed comments on the tranny flush and the front end and rear end flushes. So what are your guy's suggestions on that? Anything else you can think of.

If I had it to do over again, I would avoid the flush and go with a pan drop, same holds true on the front/rear differential. I've had nothing but troubles since I had mine flushed at the dealer.

Lots of opinions on tranny fluid changes....I personally endorse a flush from the dealer. Expensive, yes, knowing only merconV has been in the machine is good enough for me.

A goodyear gatorback is an exellent replacement belt and very reasonable priced.

Plugs are definately due.....motorcrafts are the only way to go there.

The diffs can be done by yourself, fairly easy proceedure, use a good quality synthetic for long lasting protection and high temps if you are towing. I have used Redline in my diffs with great results.....plus it has the friction modifiers already in it if you have LS on the rear.

Pending on the color of your coolant you might have to do a flush for that. Use the "search" feature in this forum for info on that.

Coolant flush, New belt(goodyear-gates-motorcraft), tranny drain, I will never do a flush again. You only have 30k on plugs, they are fine. Use a good fuel system cleaner 2 times a year. Replace fuel filter. Good to go.

As was already stated opinions will vary...a lot.

My opinion at 100k miles start fresh have all the fluids coolant, oil, trans, brake, front and rear diffs. t/case all fluidsand filters exchanged. With only 30k on the plugs no need to worry about them unless you used a cheaper brand (I always recommend Motorcraft).
Peace of mind is a wonderful thing, and maintenance is so much cheaper than the price of a repair.

I agree with the above. Dropping the tranny pan and flushing yourself is very easy to do. You can take the cooler line off and us the internal pump get almost all the fluid out of the system.
