quiet that noisy dash dinger....
The dinger is a PC-mount item in the inst cluster, between the tranny temp and the speedo gauges (in a gas dash). You need to remove the cluster and pull the needles off ( I used a normal salad fork), then pull the back board off. The buzzer is about the size of a quarter and about quarter inch tall. I simply filled my with hot glue. To put it back together, I used a needle to zero the gauges and lightly put the needles back on. Then, holding the trip-reset button in, start the engine to enter test mode. From there you can set all the gauges, including the tach and speedo with fair accuracy, according to what the truck thinks is goin on. The tach and speed are displayed in digital, adjust you needle accordingly.
Although this sounds easy, It took me about 2 hours and a little work. Complete removal of the dash panel and disassembly on the cluster took a little to figure out.
Now I have a quiet, but still noticable, dinger that does not give an instant headache..
