[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-May-02 AT 00:45 AM (EST)]Jen - did you buy the JL's new? If so, there should be a piece of paper giving you the cubic airspace each speaker will need. Design a box for those specs - you measure your airspace by:

Length X Width X Height = ____ divided by 1728. Use inches in your measurements.

You can damage a speaker by not having the right airspace, plus the sound is definitely determined by the airspace and whether it is a sealed enclosure or a ported box.

Let me know what type of JL 10's are they, and I can get you the specs on how to build your box.

But to answer your question - No - the more airspace does not make sound quality better...

Cobra hit it right on the head. You really need to have the correct air space for your speaker. Having too much or too little will make a nice speaker sound like crap. You can Check JL's website for the correct airspace depending on what series of sub you have.

Good Luck

ive seen too many people take quality subs and stick them in a huge box that they had custom made. beware of these box makers who act like they know what they are talking about, they just want money. always get factory specs, i recommend ported
