MAP sensor vacuum. need help plz

iv got a 302 in my 87 mustang. i understand this is a truck forum, but you may be able to help me. i swapped engines and when we finished it, we noticed a miss while it idled. we arent very eduacted on engines and we couldnt figure it out. we asked a mechanic friend and he noticed we are missing he hose completely out of the MAP sensor, he could not help us because he is a chevy guy (go figure). i need to see my car, but cant because of this miss, can anybody please help me by explaining where it goes maybe by pictures or a diagram. thank you

There is a vacuum line that needs to be attached between the MAP sensor and the vacuum tree. If it is disconnected, fueling should be RICH and the idle will be rough (if it will idle at all).

okay, there is no hose at all on the MAP sensor, and the tree has all the hoses connected from what i can see, i found a diagram that says the hose goes to the manifold vacuum. are you saying the hose from the MAP sensor goes to the tree? sorry, im a bit confused.

okay i went down and took off the upper intake manifold i think its called and in the back theres a group of 3 nipples for hoses, they were all hooked up. is that what u mean by the (tree)? also 1 more question. there is a fuel injector sensor or fuel sensor, where is that located?

The vacuum tree is metallic and is located on the upper intake manifold; one of the lines attached to it goes to the brake booster. All of those lines should go to some component, my guess is that the line for the MAP sensor fell off and is hanging somewhere in the engine.

If all of the lines are connected, at both ends, you can simply insert a T fitting into one of them and connect to MAP sensor.

I thought mine came off of the black tree on the firewall, but I could be wrong. It's plugged because I converted to MAF on my 88. I'll have to look in the AM.

It really doesn't matter where on the intake the MAP sensor is plugged in, just attach it to any available port. Vacuum is vacuum.
