coolant in oil +

hi, guys. Please point out main places to look. As far as I see it it could be:
1 blown head gasket
2 cracked head
3 cracked block
4 front cover or water pump gasket
5 gasket under intake manifold

2 and 3 are worst, but hope not these mothers. Did not overheat engine, so hope they're OK

1 seems more possible, but is a real pain in the glass

4 & 5 are easy but I wonder if they are possible (but 4 is the only place where I was messing around about three years ago, so could be possible

Are there any other places where coolant might meet with the oil? I know that I have to take the engine apart, but want to start from "easy" places, leaving heads for the final meal Any bright ideas?

PS happened suddenly - noticed temp going up slightly. Pulled over and added a litre of antifreeze to the system. Did not help. Next day added 2 more. Did not help, but I started wondering where does it go So pulled out the dipstick... Wish I would never see what I saw ) Anyway, evenunder these conditions, the engine ran fine, no power or torque loss, no white smoke... Only the temp was a bit higher than usual, but still in the 'normal" sector. Bronco 2 XLT, 2.9 EFI, 1988, 5MOD

Like you said number one bet would be the head gasket it probably isn't too bad since it didn't over heat and head gaskets aren't that difficult thats where I would start since it is the most likely cause and just to be safe check for cracked heads while you are at it. I blew the head gasket in my '89 about 6 years ago and it did over heat cracked both heads and put a hole in one of my pistons. The cracks were very hard for me to find but I knew they were there. Even if it got a little hot the 2.9L heads are very touchy about it.
