I have a question that worries me. The price of diesel in my area is now at the $4.89 - $5.00 a gallon. I use my 06 F350 PSD for hauling my 5th wheel. With these prices the truck is sitting idle an awful lot. Does this do any harm of the engine? I try to start it occasionally and let it idle to get the oil moving around. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.
Like rollerstud98 said the turbo can start to stick if it sits alot and then you are only going to let it idle. Take it for a 15 minute drive and excercise the turbo by building boost once in awhile. I try to drive mine at least once a week.
I have had problems with the turbo due to lack of use like the others. The best advice I have had from the forum as well as the service tech is to run it at least once a week and get the boost to 20 lbs a couple times (after warmed up of course).
Thanks for the info guys. I'm new to diesels. Bought my beautiful ride a year ago in May - just before the price of diesel started to skyrocket. It's getting increasingly hard to filler up on a retirement income. Somebody is screwing the world and diesel owners.
Sorry for any misunderstanding. What I mean is that the truck sits without being driven for longer periods of time. It doesn't sit idling. I'm retired and don't drive my truck much except to haul my 5th wheel trailer.
I was with ya jopatk, mine sits all week in the garage while I drive the company truck. I am lucky to get 10 miles a week. Had it for over 2 years now and just have 13000 miles.
I am thinking about parking my truck in the driveway and buying a compact car to go to work. I still have three years of payments on my truck. I really dont know if I will be saving any money. New car payment+ new insurance+ 4 dollars for gas.

I love to drive my truck but when diesel hit 4.50 a while back I parked it for everything but my truck needs and my fuel bill went way down I am just having turbo withdrawal now.
I think I will go exercise my turbo tonight
I hope better fuel days are coming
I cannot understand why US stations are not selling Bio I can't even get it within 100 miles
Everyone have a good weekend

Thanks for all the info. Taking advice, I took mine out and run up the turbo to 20 psi a couple of times after warmup. I bought mine in May 07 before the diesel exploded. Have wanted a diesel for a long time. Traded in a gas guzzlin Chevy. Now, diesel is at least .50 higher per gallon than high-test. But, I love my truck, and it's a work horse. I'm sick of everybody bad mouthing the Ford Diesel.
