ok you guy's will have to bear with me, I build lowrider Lincolns. this means I know jack about 4wd's. I have a 86 f 350 solid axle with a d 60. I bought this truck because i thought it would be fun to tear **** up out in the dunes. the first time I make it out though I lock in my hubs, put her in 4 lo and I get nothing to the front wheels. my transfer case is spinning the drive shaft to the front diff. so thats not the problem. I even took my hubs apart to see if anything was broke and didn't see anything amiss. I lightly regreased everything put it back toghther and still nothing. any ideas?
not the problem, front diff is fine. when I pulled the hubs apart there was a lock ring under the cap. then 2 gears and a spring. nothing broke on either side. is it possible I didn't pull them apart all the way?
I would have the hubs unlocked, and the transfer case in 2H. You should be able to turn the front driveshaft by hand.
Then put the transfer case in 4H, hubs still unlocked. Can't turn the driveshaft? Then the transfer case is ok(I think you knew this already but just double checking).
Put the transfer case back into 2H. Jack one front wheel off the ground. Put both hubs in "lock". Turn the wheel that is off the ground by hand. You should hear the hub click a little bit, and then the driveshaft should start turning.
If it's not, then make sure the other axle that is on the wheel sitting on the ground is not turning backwards. If it's not, then look behind the wheel you are turning, and see if the axle is turning. If it's not, then there is something wrong with the hub in front of you.
If the axle on the opposite side was turning backwards, then I would suspect the hub on the opposite side may be bad. You can let the one side back on the ground and then jack up the other side, and do the same tests. This will get you familiar with how it all works too.

I didn't already know this. like I said, i build lowrider lincolns. thanks for the info though it was a great help. It's not my transfer case so it's gotta be axles. once again all that info is greatly appreciated
Thanks for all the good info Stosh and franklin. if you guy's ever decide you need to build a lowrider and need answers, let me know. also stosh, do you work only in solid works? or do you use master cam also? a far superior program in my oppinion as it's easier to use.
