I exited the pipes right in front of the rear wheels. My thinking was with dual exhaust from the 351 that the hump over the rear axle would make a "P" trap and tend to rust out the mufflers and pipes with the condensation. That was 35 years ago and I still am running the same pipes and mufflers. I did add a crossover so it doesn't sound like a four banger when you stand on the side. I don't know how much it helped performance since it already can smoke um in several gears but it does sound like a V-8. Sorry no pictures must do that this weekend if I get time.

I use side dumps. I modified the running boards for the pipe exits.
Remember, the longer the pipes, the quieter the sound. Pointing the tips down also muffles a lot. Length of system and tip angle and shape, as well as muffler choice, of course, determine the exhaust sound level and tone.

Doing the same planning, got the oval tips (nice) do ya think they should come out under the running board or under the front of the rear fender or………. Through the running board in a neat cut out or through the front of the rear fender in a tube (pipe) of its own? Thanks

I viewed your gallery and I have to admit that after the viewing, I almost feel guilty. Do to the fact that you did such a good job illustrating the project, I feel as thou I could be stealing some ones idea, well,guilty or not, who knows? I just might............. LOL........ very, very well illustrated.

We had a set of nice tips close to the body on our 66 Chevy pickup, and it was always black and ugly on the body. and hard to clean..
