I am getting ready to put in my system in my '65 F-250 as soon as we get the carpet/headliner..etc put in. I am gonna put the CD player(pioneer) in the headliner with that thing from roddoors and I have two 6x9's(pioneer) and soon to have hopefully two 8's that I will install behind the seat(above the gas tank). Would that be a correct setup? Or do I have to get some tweeters or other things? I will have an amp too. Thanks!
im not to sure u want to mount the 8"s by the gas tank, cuz the electric flow. ur truck will certainlly have a lotta of bass, i would go down radio shack and invest in a set of 2" tweeters to round out ur system so u have nice highs as well as the nice lows.
Alright, Thanks for the advice. Where else could I put them? I didn't think it would matter that much? They won't be like right on it. They would be mounted in an oak panel going all the way across the back so tehy won't be touching the back either. hmmmm... Any other advice on this?
The tweeters ideally need to be mounted somewhere that will project directly at your ears. They cannot be mounted like a sub, which can go anywhere. So if you can, mount them up high on the doors or on the headliner facing you, somewhere out of the way and that won't screw up the asthetics of the restoration.
Thanks man,
I was thinking about in the headliner right above my head on each side. Is there such thing as a good brand of tweeter...or will the radio shack ones do good? And one more thing on the behind the seat speakers. The subs, do they have to be in a box? Or can I mount them just like 6x9's? And my dad also said putting all my speakers behind the seat, you won't be able to hear nothing because it will be muffled? true/false? thanks again!
ur 8" subs will need to be mounted in a box. as far as puttin them behind the seat, if u put a spacer above tha gas tank u should be ok but make sure no electirc current goes near it. never know what can happen. as far as tweeters, the radio shack ones are good, but others might say different
