[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Jun-02 AT 03:23 PM (EST)]you should only need one man, how many watts are you running, and what kind of battery do you have, you might beable to get away with an Optima Red Top, i run my 15's without a capacitor, just because they are expensive and dont have any money, my peak wattage of my amp is 2200 watts, which it will prob never hit but oh well, the optima red top is just a slightly more advanced battery that is designed to take the blows of a powerful stereo, 2 capacitors would be way too much , just a waste of money one would do the job its only 6 10's not 6 15's
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Jun-02 AT 07:52 PM (EST)]I appreciate the feedback guys. Capacitors were never something i had to worry about, but i have numerous things running off the battery as it is, and i have seen the lights dim from time to time during a huge bass drop. Just wanted to be safe.
its whatever but i have never installed two capacitors in a car unless there was 3000 watts or more running, i guess it all depends on the quality of the capacitor, but if you already have neons and crap running off the battery it would be a good idea to get one if you have the money, but if you have the money go ahead and buy two, i just wouldnt see a noticeable difference between 1 capacitor and 2 capacitors
The bigger the capacitor (in Farads) the longer it takes to charge up. Most audio systems I have seen utilized a 1 Farad cap. If you use two 1 Farad caps wired in series then the overall capacitance is 2 farads, wire them in parallel and it drops to .5 Farad (Same as resistance in series and parellel. The whole point of a cap is to provide voltage for heavy bass drops that would normally drain the battery. Basically you charge up the cap to the same voltage as the battery and instead of draining your battery to nothing during a drop you will discharge the cap (which charges back up a lot quicker than a battery).

Be sure to charge the cap up also or it will act like a bad short and drain your battery, so you might wake up in the morning and your truck will not start, I myself personally won't mess with caps anymore, I had one that destroyed my battery and alternator, because the inside of the cap was defective and I had bought it 2 months prior what a rip off.
I know there alot of brand name caps out there right now, but believe or not Rockford Fosgate makes most of them, most companies just put their trademark name on there like PPI, Lightning Audio, Phoenix Gold, etc......
