how do i replace the front leaf spring hanger on the driver side of a 1994 mazda 3000. i looked under there today to start by removing the old hanger and saw that it had some type of rivet holding it to the frame and know that everyone just says to use bolts, but how do i get the bolts through the frame since the gas tank is right up against the frame?

I just did thhis job on my 94! Let me tell you the best way is to remove the bed! I did and it made a miserable job so much easier.
Once the bed is off or moved back you will see there is enough room to almost get your hand between the tank and frame.
CAUTION; Drill the rivets out on the drivers side! because there are plastic fuel lines attached to the frame very close to the rivets. and the filler neck is right there also. Just watch you don't drill through the tank.
With all the rusty mess and gaulded spring bolts I had to deal with it took about 2hrs drivers side and 1 1/2 passenger side.
I would make sure you get new bolts that go through the springs, I was glad I did!
there are 6 torx bolts inside the bed, then the tail light wireing plug under the rear of the bed. Yes - take the 3 bolts out of the filler neck and remove the gas cap. Also removing the tail gate makes it a bit lighter.
I put an empty 55 gallon drum behind the truck and 2 of us ( 1 at each wheel well ) picked up the bed and just moved it back until the bumper was in the wheel wells and the back was on the drum.
