I have an F250 4X4 that fits in my garage tightly, and everything clears except the antenna. I live in a rural area, and most radio stations are hard to pick up as it is. I have some experience in the past with the cheap shory rubber antenna's. They just don't cut it out here. I need to replace my factory antenna with something a bit shorter to clear my garage, but want something that is going to give me good reception. It doesn't have to be the cheapest thing I can get my hands on. I would prefer something that will just screw on in place of the factory rod (if possible)
Can anyone out there steer me in the right direction?
Thanks

I would try a shorter antenna of course. To get over the low signal input try to find an RF Amplifier. I know I saw one once but can't remember for the life of me where. Hope this helps.

Add an antenna booster/amsignal amp:
J.C. Whitnet used to sell a couple of different antenna amplifiers, the one I used personally was for the FM band but it did help pull in some distant stations. You may also want to consider the link I attached here.

Add a high gain marine antenna:
Shakespeare makes one, (but I think it is about 4' long), as does DirectAntenna. Both are sold over the web as well.
Shorten and or improve the quality of the antenna wire and connection. VHF/SSB/Cb and most two-way type frequencies lose about .0091 db of gain for every foot of wire used, ( I don't know what the figure is for AM/FM but I suspect the same physical laws apply to some degree). Higher quality wire and connections can reduce this greatly as can using a shorter cable if possible.
Hope this helps, good luck.
