I did a google search on E40D. That is the transmission I am currently rebuilding. I have a 1992 F150 extended cab (purchased used). The transmission went out 2 years ago.The truck has been sitting idle for the past 2 years while Ii waited to get the money to rebuild it. I Have always been a ford man. However, after haveing to rebuild the transmission in my 93 escort at 80,000 and install a short block rebuid engine at 95,000 (thrown rod) and having my truck trans go out at 109,000 (limited towing). I am beginning to wonder about fords quality.

That is low mileage for the trannys. You will find that a lot of folks have over 200K on some of the E40Ds here. Be sure to post any questions you have on it and stop in your state chpater when you get the chance: North Carolina Chapter - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
