Hi! I'm new to this forum and I need some help in the audio aprtment. Here's the deal.. I have a '72 F-100 Sport Custom. I wnated to put in a couple of subs and some speakers but I have no place to put them with out drilling or cutting. My Dad is banjopicker66 and he wants me to keep the truck all original.
Here's my thought. In J.C. Whitneys' catalog they have a pre-manufactured ceiling unit that already has four ten-watt speakers in it with room for a cd or tape player. Cost is about $200. Does anybody have any ideas? My e-mail is sutman3030 at bellsouth.net
THANKS
You COULD do that, but the real question is this: Do you want "sound" or do you want "quality sound" ? The package you refer to from JCWhitney is not going to sound good in that truck. I know all kinds of retailers on the net where you can get the highest end gear to the lowest of the low, and all are priced excellent. The best thing to do for your truck if you MUST keep it looking stock is to replace the factory radio unit, and the speakers as well. Do you know what size the speakers are in your truck ? If so, let me know and i could point you in the direction of a decent cd player and pair of speakers for close to the same $200 amount.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Jul-02 AT 10:05 AM (EST)] Well, I WANT quality sound, but I don't have very much money. I am looking to keep everything, speakers, woofer, amp, radio, etc., under $400. As for original speaker setup I only have one and it is located in the middle of the dash and there is no room for speakers in the door as they are solid. There is no room for a cd palyer where they put the factory radio. Unless they have some kind of rig for it. The radio bolt up is for the old style two dial turn *****. Dad has the original radio to go with the truck. Thats why I wanted to get that overhead console so I could put ina decent tape or cd player. (I really don't know what I'm talking about because I'm only 16 and haven't spent that much time around cars.) The speaker size is about 5x7 or 5x9.
Thanks for the help
