hi , was wondering the easy way to drop some rpm's, here in austraila we have highway speeds of 70mph,however most of the highways i use have little police radars so is good to travel at about 85 mph,the f350 i have as 7.3 psd(new in austarila in 2005) 4r100 a speed atuo and i think drw diff is sterling with 4.10 gears..please correct me if wrong can find no details from codes on truck, however the truck runs like 2500 2700 rpm in this range, running stock tryes 235/85/r16 from what i read best rev range is around 2000rpm?...i have 150 lts of fuel and get 550 to 600 kms from it i make the 13 mpg the truck is nearly fully loaded at the time and does have a tralier ofthen.i do like30 to 35 miles per yr...would love some ideads caz desiel is going to hit $2 a litre hear soon.
Glad to see you figured out how to post here. I don't know if you're vin & sticker would be different, but if you look here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...lder_____.html
There is a VIN decoder, along with a decoder for the door sticker that should tell you what you have.
The easy answer is just to slow down. Even changing the gear ratio is still going to give you poor fuel economy simply from fighting the air you're moving through. Since things tend to cost a lot over there you'll have to do the math on any changes. How much weight do you haul and how heave is the trailer you pull? You might be better off adding an auxiliary overdrive like GV Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive Ford Truck-Car-Van 2-Wheel Drive 4-Speed and 5-Speed Automatics. or US Gear U.S. Gear Corporation Home Page than changing to a 3.73.
The other option might be to find a restaurant that will give you it's used cooking grease, buy a processor, and make you're own biodiesel.
Unfortunately, with the cost of fuel today, changing your driving habits is just a good idea. Perhaps try driving at 65 mph - 70 mph for a week and see how much the mileage changes. Multiply the savings out over a year and that will tell you if it's worth slowing down.
with DRW you should have a dana 80 your RPM/MPH sound ike 4.10
after you pass 75 mph it will start digging intoyour wallet
these trucks did come with a 3.73 and if you don't tow heavy it will help some
