Dead lifter

Bandaid didnt work.

Does anyone know how to change out lifters without tearing the heads off the engine? Im just hoping a cam lobe isnt wiped but my suspicions are the lifter. Reason. I can put a finger between the valve and the rocker. It ran fine when the engine oil pressure had a second to fill the lifter. Well no more.

From my racing car engine building days my memory tells me you can go as far as changing the cam without pulling the heads. There may be something different about the PSD that I'm not aware of, but changing lifters, one or all of them is fairly simple.

Does the valley pan come off like on gas engines? Haven't looked that far into it myself. If it does then Mark would be correct in saying you could do it without removing the heads.

Ron (Ronspowerstroke) has some great exploded diagrams of a 7.3 on this site:

I hope it helps.

Heads gotta come off, sorry. Not enough of a hole to get it out with the head on.
