I was just wondering what kind of systems Bronco owners have installed. I just picked up a Kenwood 600 watt amp to power 3 MTX Audio 10" subs. This fills my truck nicely (because there's a lot to fill) and i was just wondering what other set-ups people are running.
I'm interested to know, too - I have a 92 Bronco XLT, and don't have any extra amps or subs yet. I have a Rockford-Fosgate RFX9300 head unit with 2 RF 6-1/2" in front and 2 RF 6x8" in back. I'm looking to get an amp and a sub, but I don't want the bass to bounce the truck down the road (I guess I'm getting old), just to have a very nice, clean, full sound at any volume. Any suggestions?
I have a Pioneer DEH-445 head unit a MTX 4300x (37.5x4 at 4 ohms) which is running a pair of Infinity Reference 6.5" components up front and a pair of Rockford Fosgate 6"x9"'s in the Back. I then have a pair of JL Audio 10W3 4 ohm subs in a Q-logic Bandpass box each sub is driven by a Rockford Fosgate Punch 360.2.
Extremly Clean sound have highpass on the 6.5's at about 90hz and high-pass on 6x9's at 60hz, then the low pass on the subs is set about 90hz. Sound like a rock concert inside only with a much more distortion free sound and it can sound like a boom car coming down the road if you turn up the remote Punch Bass controls .
My bandpass box was fairly large (30"x17"x12.5") I just put mine behind the rear bench seat with the speakers and the ports up. I sounded best that way and it took up the least amount of floor space that way.
The 6"x9"'s I had in boxes that were movable usaully I had them sitting on top of the wheel wells next to the rear seat. I did not bolt them down, that way when I was working or out at a party we could set them on the tailgate.
After re-reading you guys posts and seeing the years of your Broncos I forgot to mention that I did not have a spare tire inside mine either so that saves quite a bit of room.
Well, decided to buy a Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch XLC on eBay and a Kenwood KAC-626 amp (150w RMS bridged) to run it. I'll see how it sounds and may dump it and splurge on an Alpine MRV-450 5-channel (50w x 4 + 200w x 1) to run the whole shebang.
Hulk: where did you put your amp? I'm trying to find a good spot for it, without tearing up the interior. I'm going to try to fit it into one of the rear side pockets - we'll see how it goes.
have any of y'all seen custom sub boxes to replace one of the rear pockets or anything like that cause I can't afford to just place the box behind the bench seat cause I often fold the seat up or take it out to haul things. And i was thinking maybe put the ump under the the driverside seat and the sub in the driver side rear pocket or possibly hiding the amp back there in the paneling too.
I've been giving this a lot of thought since I bought all my components on eBay, haven't received them yet, and need to find a place to put it all. I don't know about your seats, but NOTHING will fit under mine. There isn't even an inch of room.
I'm thinking about buying some extra rear panels (because I want to have the originals uncut, for whenever I sell it), cutting them off behind the seat belt slot/cover and fabricating some panels out of wood and carpet to fit everything (or at least the amps). From looking at it, the passenger side panel would be easiest to do (the shape is more conducive). I'll let you know if I have any success.
