Wink scratch cover up

hatchet, the market has several scratch removal items scratch Doctor and renusit and others you can try. I have tried them on my wifes Mercedes after some nut placed a long key mark on her roof, I will tell you how I ended up doing the job. First I had to determine if it was clear coated, after that I used 800 grit wet and cut it into finger strips so as to only rub just the line and small area around it then work slowly wiping it frequently to make sure I did not go to deep, stay out of the paint if it has any flake in it. after I sanded the area I borrowed a air brush from my cousin, mixed the clear coat and shot a peace of old metal to try the paint gun I had never used before, then I sprayed the area just enough to be above the original area, after it sits for half to an hour you Begin the wet sanding 1000, 1500, 2000 grit and again just finger width, after that the 3M polishing compound it should look like class. What I do is go get the touch-up paint and clear coat in the small bottles with the brush. Don't use the brush. Get a round toothpick and barely dip the point into the paint, then lightly fill in the scratch with as many thin coats as necessary, allowing paint to dry between coats. Then I apply 2 coats of clear on top, also with a toothpick. About a week later I use a light polish by hand over the area. Most times can't even find the scratch when you're finished. Probably not the correct way, but it works for me. Hope this helps.
