i bought a new 2007 fx4 off road back in 2007. special ordered it. loaded. now it only has 5200 miles new. as you can see i dont drive it much. its not the gas prices but it just sits in my driveway. i do drive it once a week to keep things going. i love my ranger but its not a daily driver. i have a mazda b2200 that i use most for daily driver. 4 banger 5 speed with A\C. beater. runs pretty good. i was thinking of selling the ranger and ordering a 2008 xl 2.3 manual ranger single cab. i like these little 4 cyclinders trucks. better gas mileage for sure. not that my off road is that bad. 17 city. 19 to 20 highway. would i take a hit selling my ranger or should i just keep it? mazda has 122,000 miles and its pretty much a beater for now. not sure what to do at this point. i have too many vehicles and need to down size. my work truck is a chevy astro cargo van. dont ask what that junk gets for mileage!!.
Normaly I would say keep the 4x4 as I love off roading and having the capabilites of a 4x4. However, with gas prices the way they are with no end in site, I would say you must think of the future. A 4 cylinder 5-speed ranger will be most practicle in these unceratin times. If ford was smart, they would bring back the 4 cylinder ranger 4x4. I guess they are in 2012 so I hear. The current gas situation will change this country forever, so might as well get use to the changes.
my personal opinion is trucks arent really selling much now....and its not hurting you to keep it.....plus you dont 100% wanna sell it by the sounds of it.... so i say keep it.
yea i know. if things get real bad and gas and all ill try to sell it. it gets cleaned and waxed weekly weather i drive it or not. plus i take it to the shore in the summer to my in laws house. wife likes being up high to see. 4.0 is petty good on highway and not bad on the city if i take it easy. i didnt buy it for a daily driver. i just wanted another ranger as my last one was a 88 extra cab stx 4x4 5 speed. thanks.
thanks. yea i thought about what ill get for it. things not even broken in yet. ill use it on the weekends and long trips down the shore. wonder what the trade in would be? at the ford dealer i bought it from. interesting to find out.
