You know the one...he designed that left rear upper shock mount, right next to the gas tank! If I ever find him, I know exactly where to put that shock.

I feel that all automotive designers and engineers as part of their schooling should be required to work as a mechanic prior to working in their respective feilds. Just think how much easier life would be if this were the case.

I just said this exact same thing to my wife yesterday when I was struggling to get that damn shock installed. The engineers should have to remove and reinstall every part on a vehicle they designed BEFORE it ever goes into production.

Same guy that put the oil filter right above the crossmember, and hid the fuel filter behind the little panel on the wife's '03 Expy

The oil filters aren't bad. A few nice extensions make the shock a lot easier.

Who's the idiot?

Same guy who designed those heads without enough threads to keep the spark plugs from blowing out.

I,ll go one better. I've saying for years that NO ONE should be allowed to attend college until they are 30 years old and have 10 years of verifiable work experience behind them. This would eliminate all sorts of nonsense not just automotive stupidity. Mike

Right. With the correct extensions it took me about 20 minutes to change that shock.

All of this is in the DESIGN to allow quicker initial instillation at the factory. It has NOTHING to do with maintainability. It is geared toward the flat rate book that the STEALERSHIPS use to give more $$ to the "techs" who are supposedly ASA "CERTIFIED".
That big building and all that prime land did not get there by being FAIR to customers.
