I have a 82 F-100 with a 4.9L 300. This was my grandfathers truck and sat for a few years before I got it. The plastic vacuum lines are all rotted out and I am debating either to replace them all with the stock 1BBL or to scrap them all and install a 4BBL 390CFM with intake. Right now my gas milage stinks and I have overhauling the RUG 3 speed the OD transmission, the exhaust system, the entire suspension system and just about every part that takes grease or lub on the truck.
I have never done any real serious engine or vacuum work and would consider myself a novice mechanic of sorts. I have replaced the 1BBL carb before and that was not difficult and I have replaced the clutch a couple of times as well.
If any one has any advice or recommendations or schematics that a dumbed down for the novice I would sure appreciate the advice.
