i have just recently put a galaxy cb in my truck. and since i'm new to cb's i can't tell if its working properly. the truck was pre-wired for a cb by the previous owner so all i did there was hook up the power adaptor to hot and ground in the truck, and i made sure that they were the correct wires. my antenna is a wilson trucker 2000. i took a piece of steel and bent it so i could drill a hole large enough to bolt the base for my antenna on it and then mounted the steel to the front of my bed so my antenna is directly behind by back glass and in the center of the bed. now my problem is that all i get is static no matter if its on am or fm or which band or channel i've got the thing set on. now in the area i live i know that i can't recieve anyone but where i work is a different story. i pass countless numbers of trucks with cb's and i don't get anything. is there something that i could have hooked up wrong, and while i'm thinking of it yes my antenna is plugged into the back of my cb.
thanks for the help

Make sure you have a little plastic bushing between the ant. and the mount or else this will short out the antenna, and could possible damage the radio.
In order to talk to the truckers you will need to be set to the AM mode on the cb radio, and have it set to the right frequency.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Aug-02 AT 01:58 AM (EST)]channel 19 is 27.185 mhz on your freq. counter..make sure your radio is set to "am"
to test your co-ax, take a ohm mter and touch the dieletic and the shield with each of the contacts and if it shows anything, it's got a short in it
