I put in some pioneer 5 1/4's in my doors last saturday and they worked great. Then on friday I listened to them all the way to town and back but when I went to turn it on later I had no sound so I checked the connections on my speakers and they were fine. then I checked my fuses again they were fine. So I hooked up my new 6x9's in the back to see if they would work and I still got nothing. The strange thing is my radio comes on and the stereo light comes on and it acts like it is playing. Why am I not getting sound? :-X23
I am assuming the speakers do not connect to an amp...
One easy way to test is with an analog meter (or even a 9volt battery)...set it for continuity testing. Disconnect the speaker from the head unit, and connect the meter leads to the speaker wires..you should hear an audible noise at the speaker..You can also use that to show you some resistance at the speaker (it would be slightly less than the speaker's impedence rating, but if it has a crossover, this will likely get skewed greatly)...
If you dont hear anything, you can assume the problem lies somewhere between the wiring and the speaker...
Lastly, I would think that its a problem with the head unit, since both sides went out together...but, the above test would give you the peace of mind that the speakers and wiring work...
