I have an 2005 6.0, I took it to the dealer, because a few times it seemed to be slow out of the hole when starting off. I know it takes a little time for the turbo to spool up and allow for that most of the time. But when I pulled out into traffic a couple of times It really seemed slow when another vehical was bearing down on me. They called and told me that they had to replace the egr valve, when I read all the threads on the egr I don't really remember this being one of the symptoms of a bad egr. I have been trying to decide whether to unplug or not, I am now convinced I will let the connector, "pop off". I'll be burning bio in it soon, so as for the tree huggers ,I'll fix my own emission problems and not get "T boned" pulling onto the highway, thus saving myself and the enviorment.
its when the injectors get coked up on the oil side and don't actuate properly i think, my truck had that problem before so i just had Ford flash it for me and it took care of it, likely they'd be able to see on contribution tests whether it was happening or not. Unplugging your egr will throw a code and turn on the cel i believe.
I guess I'll just have to see if it will throw the cel, my truck was a mid to late 2004 build some throw some don't, would they reflash if its just in the shop or should I ask for the reflash?.
But again would the sticion show up in diagnostics?
I think they would be able to see if certain injectors are low forsure, but if your truck doesn't have the problem once the egr is replaced then you should be fine.
