I just bought a '05 V10 Super Duty XL 4x4 Supercab. The deal was too good to pass up despite the low trim level. I want to replace immediatly the AM/FM radio for a unti with CD. I have a lead on the dash unit from a '06. Can I simply swap in the Cd unit or is there wiring involved? I also want to look for a nice grey cloth seat set. Will that bolt right in to where the vinyl split bench and rear seats are fastened?
I dont see why it would not be a plug and go type of thing. As for the seats if you get the new seats I believe there are the holes in the floor to mount them. They just might be plugged up.
I picked up a factory AM/FM CD unit for under $50 including shipping off EBay and found directions here for swapping it out. An extra pair of hands is nice, it would take longer alone (unless you've done it a couple of times before), but my 14 year old son and I swapped it in less than 15 minutes.
Don't know for sure about the seats, but I believe it's like DAFBFD58 says. I've been looking for seats myself, but I haven't found any locally, and the really nice ones on EBay seem to get pretty high, especially after you count shipping. My concern about seats is what would be involved in getting power seats wired up to work - it seems like alot of the seats that are available have the power option, and I'd rather not have them if I can't make them work right.
