You can adjust hydraulic lifters but you have to shim under the rocker to do it.
We used to do that with older Ford gas motors. We use to set the cam on the inner base circle and shim them till you got .010" drop on the push tube into the lifter. That would help keep the lifter from floating when at a high rmp.
