Well for anyone who has posted in my threads or for those just joining in, heres the latest on the 97 F250 LD 4x4 trans issue. Threw a P0503 for the third time in a month after a complete rebuild. Shop took it in under warranty no ?'s asked and rented me a vehicle again as well. Upon returning they say " we fixed the o/d light but here is what we THINK your problem is" and they hand me a TSB printed out from alldata that states " The MIL may illuminate and DTC P0503 may be stored in memory. There may also be transmission shift concerns and/or erratic speedometer operation. This may be caused by the speedometer drive gear being loose on the transfer case output shaft". Now in my case i have had no erratic speedo activity as they outline but however i do have the p0503 issue, furthermore, if they indeed did a complete rebuild and also agreed to "fix" my problem the TSB clearly states the problem and a step by step fixing process. Instead they sent me to the dealer who in turn told me what i suspected anyway. They are trying to kick the problem over to someone else due to lack of knowledge of the "real" problem. I called them raising a little hell so today i meet with them to discuss having the dealer properly diagnose and fix my issue at their expense. I will post the result and please if anyone has any input..I'm all eyes!
Well i talked to the trans shop again and he stated, i'm sorry sir, my tech made a mistake, bring your truck in on monday we'll get you in a rental and take care of it. mistake? This should be good!
Yeah, it's one on GM's first OD transmissions. It was actually, not a bad tranny,
You either have a 4R70W or a 4R100. Both are good tranny's as well.
I wonder what they did wrong. Perhaps not research the problem properly?
It has the E4OD in it and its been good but when it goes wrong.....it goes wrong. MFS, relay, trans, o2 sensors, wheel bearing seems like its just stacking on me and i'm coming due on a brake job as well. Who in here wants to tell my wife all this lol. Her answer is to sale it its a POS...i beg to differ
Well its been in the shop for 2 days now and he said they absolutely cannot figure out whats making that sensor go bad. None of there machine will give them anything. He said next they was going to call in a "electrical expert" to diagnose it....i say send it to the dealer...thoughts?
