Is this a hard job to do? My center large gasket is leaking. When you unbolt the front and back halves apart, are there any loose parts that will fall out?
u talkin between trans-case or between the transfer case it self. A transfer case isnt hard to tear into but i would do it on a bench. U need snapring pliers and some rtv.I used a product called honda bond on mine its for quads and is sold at a honda shop or any bike dealers, its the best gasket maket/sealer/ adheacive(sp) there is
I would also recommend repairing out of the vehicle. It is only a black RTV seal so that is all you need to replace it. You need the torx sockets to remove the bolts from the case, and a large snap ring pliers and lots of patience.
I have no gasket on mine. They used RTV. I used the same. There is nothing to fall out.
After everything is disconnected from the transfer case, remove the blots that hold it to the transmission. The aluminum case transfer case is easy to remove without a jack of any sort, it slips off the transmission output shaft.
I found a drip of trans. fluid on the 4x4 trans. case. I just degreased the trans. and transfer case last nite. The transmission and transfer case are alittle low. I will fill them and recheck for leak. I did noticed the trans gasket is wet with trans. fluid but not dripping on the ground.
