Door weather seals
I have noticed on my 06 SD CC that the lower door wether seals dont do a whole lot in keeping out mud/crime, noise. I can look from under the truck and see right past the seal, doesnt touch any of the door sill. This is on all 4 doors.
I have a buddy with a 2000 SD Super Cab and his truck has a totally different seal. Does anyone know where I can go to look for parts? Maybe a crossreference for the differnt years?
Other than that I guess I will just take in the 2 truck vin# and have the dealer do a parts search.
I'll try and get some pics to help explain better.
I detailed the jambs real good and found a major culprit. Looking down toward the tire through the jamb there is a opening (that you can see the tire through"both front doors")formed when the inner wheel housing reaches its lower back outside mounting points. The wheel housing has to flip over a piece to achieve this, creating a small elongated slot. I was dumbed, so I cut a couple pieces of rubber sheet to fit over the push pin type retainers extending in from wheel housing retainers. Made of about 1/16th" rubber, cut to just fit inside the lower jamb against a inner wall and be retained as noted, with existing push pin already there. Its hard to get in there(needed a thin forearmed helper for one side) but its doable, and makes a difference. Those small openings allow alot of tire throw right in.
I,ve got the fac. running boards so never noticed the L shaped seals don't touch, but it may be a good thing. With the amount of stuff that enters this area. I'm sure my 04 wouldn't have much paint left from the rubbing (opening-closing).
Shortly after finding this prob. though I invested a couple hundred in mud flaps( & shipping). Try, Dennis @ Dura Flap. They will save lots more than the jambs. Best wishes
