Your input appreciated -
I would like to retain my stock head unit as it controls the "Rear-seat entertainmeng package" on my 2002 F150 Lariat.
What I was wondering is how I could boost the power, sound ouf of that unit - or is it just a hopeless cause?
I would love to be able to add some kind of a cross over that would allow the use of a sub-woofer and then retain the factory speakers as mid-tweeters.
Another idea I was thinking about would be a powered sub woofer (if there's a lead from the head unit) - then I could turn the bass down on the head unit allowing me more volume control without distortion.
Thanks,
Todd

I'd like to keep the system as "stock" looking as possible and am willing to spend $2k for improvements.
What I'm used to in my Honda I have Boston Ac. speakers front and rear - rears are powered by the "high powered 25watt deck" - these are just to "fill-in the sound." Front two pieces are powered by a small "Linear" amp (60 watts) with the built in cross overs on the BA speakers. Then, I have a "Bazooka" powered Subwoofer (8") that I have a switch to turn on/off. This provides me plenty of clean power when I reduce the bass to negative 3 and powerup the sub.
This whole system is very clean (with the exception of the small tweaters in the door and the removable bazooka in the trunk it looks stock) and was relatively inexpensive (less than $3k including HU).
Thanks,
Todd
