I'm in the process of buying an '03 SC 4x4 and am confused about which stereo is the better sounding one i.e "premium" The dealers seem uncertain. I've seen the single CD unit refered to as "premium" in print but they didn't use that word in listing the 6-disc unit. The 6-disc one is $295 more retail and I was specifically wondering whether the speakers and power output are the same otherwise. I could live with the single CD unit if it had the better sound of the two. Please help.
There isn't any sound quality diference between those two radios, but there is between the stock cassette and the cd/cassette. Major difference. If you want to change discs at will, go with the single, if you have about 6 of your favorites you always listen to go for the six.
The 'Best' OEM sound system offered in that truck is Ford's 'Mach' audio system.
If your dealer can't tell you what you need to know you need to do as much research as you possibly can on your own or seek out a new dealer. There is nothing like special ordering a $30k truck only to find out that you didn't get the right gear ratio, tow package or trim package just because your dealer is a dope. I have read many a post of guys wanting to know how much $$ to intall 4.10 gears or such, you need to do your homework before putting up the cash on something that is wrong for your needs.
hate to say it, but none. j/k i agree mach is the best and now it offers 1000w in the mustang but a single cd in dash will be good unless u drive distance then id try for that new mp3 player they have. good luck.
Ford Factory Sterios Suck Period. IF you want a good sound system, buy the cheapest one (or none at all) and then go to a store and buy a good deck and good speakers. Ford speakers will blow easy and their new amps are really crappy. I would suggest to not go with ford anything sterio, and get your new ford vehicle equipped with a quality alpine or primere pioneer sterio system. Make sure you buy the extended warantee with them (alpine has a awesome warantee no questiona asked)
Dont go the ford way, for your own sake and grief.
Billy, You can't seriously sit there and say that Ford stereos suck! Ford has one of the best FACTORY sound systems available in the automotive market! I have a MACH sound system in my Expy that absolutely KICKS ***! It has awesome Bass response from the factory sub, It has extremely good sound quality from the mids and highs. If you truly believe that ford systems suck, then go to a dealership in your area and sit in a new mustang with the 1000. Then if you still agree that they suck , your DEAF! As far as Blowing speakers, you can have the best speakers in the world, if you turn it wide open with no regard for the equipment, you will most likely blow some speakers! If you haer them starting to distort, are you the type of person to turn it louder, or back off just a bit and save your speakers? Factory systems are a set of matched components that are matched to each other for optimum sound quality. You are not buying a vehicle strictly for the sound system, If you want to upgrade, then it's up to you. 99% of the vehicles on the market today have multi disc changers, amps, and decent speakers straight from the factory. Don't get me wrong, your not going to win a stereo competition with a factory system, but you also didn't spend 2000-3000 dollars for a system in your ride from the factory. How many people do you think would actually buy a upgrade stereo from the dealership or factory for $2000-3000? Lets get real, go to your dealership and listen to any of the premium factory systems in any vehicle on thier lot, then come back here and tell me that they suck. I bet you change your tune!
