Adding R134
Has anyone used a store bought can of R134 to add some refridgerant to their A/C system. Dealer wants 160 and a can costs like 25 at Shucks. Just wondering if it is simple and if it helped. thanks Bill

AC systems should be properly diagnosed and repaired by someone who understands what is going on and who has the tools and training to perform it correctly and safely.
DIY kits at the parts store usually yield DIY results.

If an AC system needs freon, the AC system has a leak and needs fixed.
Guesstimating it needs a can is not going to happen for a DIY'er.
Dealer wanting $160 for service and Shucks wanting $25 for a Can of R134a is RIDICULOUS!

freon like anything degrades and does "leak" even from a new system!! Buy a can of the
straight r134 no oil or leak stuff since it makes the babies at the shops cry!! and Follow
the directions on the can or read online. A gauge would help but isn't needed just to
reup your pressure a bit. A good 10 second blast then see how the ac performs and
then go from there.
