I cleaned it up today.
I also pulled the plugs and they all had a lot of carbon buildup. What causes that? Also the rotor and cap are very burnt.
I also want to take off the smog pump. (don't need it where I live) Where can I find bolts to plug the holes in the intake manifold?
I plan on replacing the timing chain, water pump, oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, and rebuild the carb.
I'm sure I will have more questions as I go along. Thanks

No bolts...what bolts that are there now screw into an insert...see ** below.
2) 376301S .. 1/2" Cup Plug-Used to fill the Thermactor (smog) Pump holes in the heads.
** When you remove the smog pipe, there's a 5/8" insert (reducer) inside the heads that will also have to be removed in order for the plugs to fit.
Insert: 5/8" -11 x 7/16" -14 x 1 1/8"
Carbon on plugs...stop and go city driving is one cause.
btw: You may want to have the heads magnafluxed, they're very prone to cracking.
btw: Save all that smog stuff, many states require emissions testing and the EPA is trying to get all the states that don't, to start smog testing vehicles.
