Today I was changing the oil in our 60 and I noticed one of the leaf spring U-bolts was so loose I could turn it with my fingers. I decided to check all of them and sure enough they were all loose, front and back.
Now I am certain that we tightened them extremely tight when we assembled the truck, however now that I think about it, only the weight of the frame was on the springs, this is the first time I checked them with the weight of the entire truck on the springs.
The only other thing I can think of is we installed spring liners between the leafs and maybe they crushed a little with the truck weight and time.
Either way if the last time you tightened the leaf spring U-bolts was with with only a frame, I would check to see if they need further tightening after the truck is assembled.
Any time a vehicle is torn down and reassembled it should be checked several time as springs/body/etc settle in.
BUT WE OUR USUALLY TO PREOCCUPIED TO REMEMBER THIS.
