Pro Comp Xtream Mud Terrains
Just put on a set of 285/75 16s on my expy yesterday. They replaced the same size set of BFG All terrains. Here is what I can tell you so far.
They make a bit more noise, not as much as I thought they would but deffinately louder.
They ride MUCH rougher than the ATs. This was unexpected. I anticipated a decrease in comfort but not that much.
They are not as predictable on the road and squirm a bit, especially into corners at freeway speeds.
I have not had them in the dirt yet, first trips to the mountains should happen by the end of the month. I will post then.
Why did I go in this direction? While this is a daily driver, I wanted a tire that can get me where I want to. There were too many times that the BFG, while an excellent tire, held me back or made me very nervous. These tires were also $300 cheaper than the BFG MTs which would have been my first choice. I also looked at the Xterrains, the dealer said they were even louder than these tires, did not wear as well and did not do as well in mud. THey also required much more frequent balancing.
Happy Trails!
